Clonakilty Macra notes from 20-02-10
The Mr. and Miss Macra competitions were held in the new GAA Pavilion in Clonakilty last Saturday night. Karen McCarthy took part in the Miss Macra competition while Mark O’Driscoll and Peter Desmond representing Clonakilty in the Mr. Macra section. Competition was stiff in both sections with a total of eighteen competitors in total. The eventual winner of the Mr. Macra competition was Patrick McCarthy from Caheragh. Suzanne McCarthy won Miss Macra and Louise McCarthy won Miss Blue Jean both from Kilmeen Macra, while Fiona O’Leary from Dunmanway Macra will represent the region at the Queen of the Land competition.
The Carbery final of the Club Question Time was held last Saturday night before the Mr. and Miss Macra competition. Two teams qualified to the next round – Innishannon and Clonakilty. Mervin Helen, Padraig Cunnane, Ger O’Donovan and Mark O’Driscoll were on the Clonakilty team that qualified. The next round is to be held this Saturday night in the Castle Hotel in Macroom.
The best of luck to all the Clonakilty participants who will take to the stage for the Cork County round of the Dublin City Talent competition this Friday night in the Edel Quinn Hall in Kanturk. They are Padraig Griffin and Irene Cullinane in the Comedy section, Sean Ronan, Padraig Griffin, John O’Leary and Ger O’Donovan in the Sketch competition, Rose O’Donovan in the Solo Instrumental and Ger O’Donovan in the Mastermind competition.
