Michael O’Donovan won the Carbery Senior Beef Stockjudging competition last week. Michael will now represent the club and region at the national final at Applebe’s farm in Lisavaird on October 23rd. Michael already has a national title in the U23 event of this competition and the club wish him every success in his attempt to win the senior title.

John Spillane played at Debarras pub recently and a large group from Clonakilty Macra went along. After the gig they spoke with John and got their picture taken with him. John spent quite a bit of his childhood in Bantry and so he was delighted to hear of the Macra Rally taking place there in October. He was more than happy to wear the yellow Bantry Rally 09 t-shirt with pride. He liked the t-shirt so much that he didn’t want to give it back. He will now wear it for any future gigs in west Cork and said tha he may make a guest appearance at the Rally in October.

Timoleague Harvest Festival is currently in progress. The t-shirt trail to Bantry 09 was at The Paddies on Sunday night. The Paddies are a trad rock band that covers both new and old songs using traditional instruments. They will be playing on the Friday night of the Rally in Bantry in October. Over twenty of the yellow t-shirt wearing group were pictured on stage with the band after the gig.

Clonakilty Macra would like to wish all the best to Martin Crowley and Matilda O’Sullivan from the Caheragh club on their marriage. The reception was held at the Maritime Hotel in Bantry last Friday night.
