GalleyFlash Rowing Club AGM notes
The 25th AGM of the GalleyFlash Rowing Club (Ardfield-Rathbarry RC) was held last Sunday Feb 21st . The outgoing chairman John Harrington expressed his thanks to all who had helped in any way to make the 2009 season the tremendous success that it was. The focus for 2010 is to build on this success and celebrate the clubs 25th anniversary . The Election of the committee for 2010 was presided over by club President Pat Joe Harrington, the officers elected are as follows:- President – Pat Joe Harrington, Chairman – John Harrington, Secretary – Bernie O’Donovan, Treasurer – Sandra Hayes, PRO & Safety Officer – Donal Hayes, Club Captain – Ger Cullinane, Registrar – Loretta Tobin, Child Protection Officers – Julie Harrington & Carol Hayes, Vice Chairman – Danny Hayes, Assistant Secretary – Niamh Hayes, Assist PRO & Club Vice Captain – Mike Feen.
A number of events to mark the clubs 25th anniversary are planned to take place during the coming season, first up being the clubs Open Day on March 7th in Rathbarry Hall. An Open invitation is extended to everyone to come and meet the members of the club, view the huge display of silverware amassed by the club during 2009. Memorabilia reflecting on the past 25 years as well as the GalleyFlash IV will be on display.
The night prior to the AGM the club held night of celebration to officially mark the end of the 2009 season, certificates for all who took part in the clubs “A Million for the Galley” rowathon were presented. The Clubs Team Of The Year Award was presented to the Under 12 Ladies in recognition to not only their tremendous successes on the water but their great team spirit, they truly were an inspiration to us all. The U12 Ladies team consisted of Fiona Tobin, Keri Ahern, Sioned Miles, Clair McCarthy, Zoe Taylor & Cox Danny Hayes.
