142 new apartments planned for off the Inner Relief and Dublin Roads
Plans for a new strategic housing development off the Inner Relief Road (R215) and Dublin Road (R132) in Dundalk have been submitted to An Bord Pleanála.
Local architect Jan C. Van Dijk plans to build 142 apartments, a creche (122sqm) and a community room (122sqm) on the 2.16 hectare site which will be known as Finnabair South.
Located roughly opposite the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the apartments would consist of 52 one beds, 64 two beds and 20 three beds across five buildings, ranging in height from two to five storeys. Parking, roadways and ancillary site works including works to the public road, landscaping and boundary treatments also form part of the application while provision is made for the installation of solar/photovoltaic panels on the roofs of each building the direction of which will depend on orientation.
The application also includes a new vehicular access via a roadway and new entrance off the R215 Inner Relief Road, previously given the go ahead in 2017 as part of plans for a development which includes offices, research and development and science and technology buildings as well as 88 units of student accommodation.
The application contains a statement setting out how the proposal will be consistent with the objectives of the Dundalk and Environs Development Plan 2009-2015 (as varied and extended) and the Louth County Development Plan 2015-2021).
