24 convicted of drink driving in Dundalk so far this year
There have been 24 people convicted of drink driving in Dundalk District Court so far this year.
That’s according to figures from Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan, supplied to Meath West TD Peadar Tóibín.
The figures for the first five months of the year are on course to equal last year’s total of 51 drink driving convictions in the local court.
There were 67 convictions in 2017 and 54 in 2016.
By comparison there have been 17 convictions in Drogheda District Court for drink driving so far this year, following on from 33 last year.
Six people have also been convicted for drink driving so far this year in Ardee, the same number as the whole of 2018.
A total of 27 people have also been convicted of speeding so far this year in Dundalk. This is one less than the 28 convicted for speeding in the whole of last year.
Speeding convictions have fallen steadily in Dundalk from 109 in 2016 and 58 in 2017.
