3,800 rise at the crack of dawn for Darkness Into Light Dundalk
Around 3,800 people rose at the crack of dawn to take part in Darkness Into Light Dundalk this morning.
The fundraiser in aid of Pieta House got underway from Dundalk IT at 4.15am and saw people come together at the same time as other events around the country to walk 5km to remember those affected by suicide and to support others considering it.
While the exact number of participants has still to be released, it comfortably trumps last year’s total of 2,358 entrants. As a result it is expected that this year’s fundraising total will smash last year’s tally of €60,702.
Those in attendance were entertained by DJ Smiley, a helpful bunch of volunteers and the Emmanuel Community Church Choir.
Amongst the large number of groups who took part were members of St Mochta’s GFC (pictured above), who came together to remember their friend and team-mate Kenneth Meegan.
