Broadhurst storms into Women’s World Boxing Elites quarter-finals in India
Dundalk boxer Amy Broadhurst has stormed into the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Boxing Elites in India, and is now just one win short of a bronze medal.
The Muirhevnamor lightweight brought some joy to the Irish team after what had been a disappointing day up to that point, as she scored a unanimous decision win over Armenian Ani Hovsepyan.
She now joins Kellie Harrington in the last eight while there was disappointment earlier on Monday for Michaela Walsh, Céire Smith and Aoife O’Rourke, who all bowed out in their last-16 bouts.
On Saturday Amy won her opening bout when she beat Russian Ekaterina Dynnik 4-1 on points.
