Aldi announce plans for new store in Ardee
Aldi has confirmed it is planning to open a new store in Ardee as part of its €160m Irish store network investment programme.
A planning application for the new store at Jervis Street was submitted in September, with the objective of developing a new 1,315sqm ‘Project Fresh’ store.
Aldi plans to open the new store in mid-2021. The €5m development will support up to 80 jobs during the construction phase, as well as the creation of 20 permanent jobs once the store opens.
Featuring Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design, the store will be powered by 100% green electricity, with 87 free car parking spaces and 12 bicycle spaces available for customers.
Commenting Donald Mackay, Managing Director Aldi Naas Region said: “This is great news for shoppers and for employment in Ardee. Every new Aldi store brings greater choice, quality and value to more and more consumers across Ireland.”
“Our commitment to our customers is we will never be beaten on price and will always provide the best value. Our Swap and Save campaign continues and the goal of this campaign is to remind shoppers about the saving that can be generated by swapping their weekly shop to Aldi.”
The new store will be the fifth Aldi in Co Louth, where Aldi has become an established part of the retail landscape. Aldi’s Louth stores are deeply involved with the local community. The stores have donated over 70,000 meals to local charities through FoodCloud since the initiative began, saving the charities over €88,000 to date. They also participate in Aldi’s Community Grants Programme, with Cara Cancer Support in Dundalk just one of many Co Louth charities to receive a €500 bursary over the last 12 months.
