Appeal for information following break-in to Bellurgan NS
An appeal for information has been made following a break-in to Bellurgan National School in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The school was broken into at around 3am with access gained through an office window at the back of the school.
While nothing was taken during the break-in, damage was caused to the school office.
Posting on Facebook last night, the school encouraged anyone with information on the incident to contact Gardaí.
They said: “Parents face an expensive time this time of year as their children return to school, with new uniforms, book rental fees etc. Those concerned were obviously after others’ hard earned cash, so therefore we see this as an attack on our whole School Community. No cash is ever left on our premises!
“Today was a very disruptive day as we dealt with the Gardaí and the forensic team, however it was at the forefront of our minds to keep things as normal as possible for our pupils.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious at approximately 3am last night around our school, please contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400.”
