Application to be put forward seeking additional traffic calming measures in North Louth
Grange Cross and the Bellurgan Straight has been selected for an application to be submitted for additional traffic calming measures.
There have been calls for additional traffic calming in the area for some time to cut down on the speed of motorists using the route.
News of the application has been welcomed by local Councillor Antóin Watters, who said: “I have been liaising with the Council Engineers for quite some time to address these issues and I hope the applications will be successful. The funding will be announced in March/April 2019.”
The Sinn Féin councillor also revealed that following numerous complaints about water ponding on the main R173/R175 road from Dundalk to Carlingford, Louth County Council have agreed to carry out additional drain cleaning works as a matter of urgency to alleviate the problem.
