Art As Exchange exhibition to launch in the Long Walk tonight

The Art As Exchange group exhibition opens in the Long Walk Shopping Centre tonight.

The exhibition will be officially opened at 7pm and will remain open until May 29th from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 11am to 6pm on Saturdays.

Art as Exchange (AAEX) is an open group of local artists who have been meeting regularly for almost two years now in order to exchange ideas, socialise, collaborate and develop public art projects. Public participatory art projects include representations at Drogheda Arts Festival 2017 and 2018, Creative Spark National Drawing Day 2017 and 2018, and First Fortnight (Inside Out). Group internally they focused on Hands-on Gatherings and created a Large Scale Mural.

This year the group decided to seek an opportunity to showcase individual members’ art practices in their first group exhibition, which will also host a number of workshops for various ages for the public to get involved.

In the spirit of trying to get out of the gallery and into the community they have availed of the community space at the Long Walk Shopping Centre for this.

Amongst the local artists who contributed to the exhibition include Anna Marie Savage, Bernhard Gaul, Caoimhe McCarthy, Ciara Agnew, Heather Cassidy, James McLoughlin, Jean Marshall, Michael Stafford, Ominous Omin, Rachel Burke, Susan Farrelly and Úna Curley.

Workshops on Comic Book Drawing, Create Artist Books, Meditate and Make, Tangle Time, Paint with a Painter and more are free to attend but booking is required.
