Council announces Mattress Disposal Day on August 28th

As part of their Anti Dumping Initiative 2019, Louth County Council has announced a Mattress Disposal Day on Wednesday August 28th.

On the day there will be a Mattress Disposal Amnesty at the V&W Recycling Centres on the Newry Road in Dundalk and on the Mell Road in Drogheda.

From 12.30pm to 4.30pm only on the day mattress disposal costs will be covered by the local authority.

The normal recycling centre entry charge will apply on the day. Mattresses must be clean and dry and the service is open to householders only with a maximum limit of three mattresses per vehicle.

For further details call Louth County Council on 042 9335457.

Local Councillor Erin McGreehan has encouraged people to take advantage of the amnesty.

She said: “We well know the scourge of illegal dumping and a lot of the time individuals will dump mattresses in very scenic areas of our countryside. This is a very affordable option for people to safely dispose of their unwanted mattresses.”
