Culture Night events taking place throughout Dundalk this evening
Culture Night takes place across the country tonight with numerous events lined up in Dundalk.
The annual all-island event celebrates culture, creativity and the arts with over 4,000 free events nationwide in 1,600 venues.
Among the local venues where events are taking place are An Táin Arts Centre, the Oriel Centre at Dundalk Gaol, Creative Spark, the Droichead Arts Centre, Ardee Library, Dundalk Library, the County Museum and The Spirit Store.
An Táin Arts Centre will be a hub of activity on the night with a series of free events including a family hangout with children’s face painting and a woodland fairy workshop.
There will also be a Snapshots Exhibition in the Basement Gallery, tours of the building, a Big Sing Community Event, jazz guitar from Mike Nielsen and an open studio and reception with artist in residence Rozzi Kennedy.
Other highlights locally include ‘From High Kings to Derry Girls’ a presentation on the role of street art in enhancing cultural heritage and sense of place in Dundalk and Derry. This meets at the Dundalk BIDS office at the Market Square at 7pm.
MAD Youth Theatre will also perform a new commissioned promenade play on Earl Street at 7pm while at Dundalk Gaol there will be a night of traditional music, song, dance and stores.
