Dane Massey signs new two year deal at Dundalk FC
Dundalk FC have announced that Dane Massey has extended his contract at the Club.
One of Stephen Kenny’s first signings, Massey will now enter his seventh season at the club and has had phenomenal success at Oriel Park to date.
He has won four league titles, two FAI Cups, two EA Sports Cups and two doubles in his time at the club to date. The Dublin native has also played a major role in the Lilywhites’ European success in recent seasons lining out 23 times and has made over 200 appearances since his arrival in December 2012.
Speaking to dundalkfc.com about the new deal Massey was pleased to get the deal done and is confident going into the future.
“It’s great to get the deal done. Things have changed a little bit in the last few days with Stephen Kenny leaving the club. I have full confidence in whoever comes in next. It’s a great club here.
“We are the most suited for it to happen now and we are at our strongest on the pitch. There is great potential in the squad and we can go on from here. There was no question about signing back and I am just delighted for it to be done.”
Massey has won everything at Oriel Park and he is hungry to win more but said the family atmosphere at the Club was a major factor in his decision to extend his stay.
“It has been a roller coaster since the day I signed. Four leagues, two FAI Cups, two doubles and the European adventure. It has been a whirlwhind and this year I have had the birth of my daughter too.
“Everyone in the Club makes me and my family feel so welcome. That has had a major part to play. All the fans and the staff at the Club has been great to me. There has been no doubt about me coming back and I am delighted to be staying.”
The Lilywhites’ Chief Executive Mal Brannigan commented: “As a club, we are delighted that Dane has committed the next two years of his football career to the team. He has played a vital role in bringing success to Oriel Park during his time here and it illustrates that he has a firm belief that this success will continue.”
