Dundalk-based striker Michael O’Connor linked with move to Premier League side
Locally based striker Michael O’Connor is a target for Premier League side Burnley.
The 19-year-old, who moved from Dundalk FC to Shamrock Rovers at the start of the current League of Ireland season, impressed against Sean Dyche’s side when they met in a friendly at Tallaght Stadium last month.

If he were to sign for Burnley, O’Connor would join a number of Irish players at the club including Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick, Kevin Long, Stephen Ward and Jonathan Walters.
Another local youngster, Jimmy Dunne from Blackrock, is also on the books at Turf Moor but is currently on loan at Barrow AFC until the New Year at least.
The Mirror reports that, as O’Connor is under contract at Shamrock Rovers, he would command a six figure free.
