Dundalk come from behind against Derry to go eight points clear
Dundalk moved eight points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League table with a 3-1 victory over Derry City at Oriel Park last night.
Stephen Kenny’s side had to come from behind to earn their win with Lucas Schubert firing the visitors in front after just six minutes after Gary Rogers could only push clear a Barry McNamee shot.
Dundalk were level on 13 minutes, however, when man of the match Daryl Horgan crossed for John Mountney to fire home.
It was then 2-1 four minutes later when Brian Gartland headed home after Dane Massey’s initial header from a corner had crashed off the bar.
The points were then wrapped up on 59 minutes when David McMillan latched onto a superb through ball from Horgan to fire low to the bottom left hand corner.
Dundalk are next in action in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday when they face Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League.
