Dundalk Credit Union is delighted to present spectacular performance of Requiem-Marbhna

Dundalk Credit Union is delighted to present a spectacular performance of the highly acclaimed Requiem-Marbhna in collaboration with Dundalk Institute of Technology, as part of its 50th anniversary program of celebrations. The event, which will take place on Sunday 16th December, in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dundalk at 8pm, will bring the highly acclaimed commemorative performance to the people of Dundalk for the first time, and proceeds from the event will be donated to three local charities; Dundalk SVP, Dundalk Simon Community & St. Patrick’s Parish Soup Kitchen

This performance of Requiem-Marbhna in the Irish language, features staff and students from Dundalk Institute of Technology, who will be joined by the Garda Band, Ardee Concert Band, Tredagh Singers, Zoe Conway and other local soloists and players. The conductor will be Inspector Pat Kenny of the Garda Band and will feature Sibéal Ní Chasaide. Marbhna is composed by Odhrán O Casaide, and sets out to explore the beauty of sean nós voice together with orchestra, classical solo voices, traditional and early music instruments.

Since its foundation in 1968, Dundalk Credit Union has a long history of giving back to the community it serves; the proceeds from this event will be donated to Dundalk SVP, Dundalk Simon Community & St. Patrick’s Parish Soup Kitchen. Launching the event, Chairman of Dundalk Credit Union Paddy Donnelly said “This performance of Marbhna will be spectacular. In bringing it to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dundalk Credit Union is keen to bring its beauty and magic to life in a very special and unique way for the people of Dundalk. We hope that the people of Dundalk will come and enjoy this event, the proceeds of which will be donated to several local charities, all of whom are doing amazing work in our community throughout the year, but face significant extra demands at this time of year”. President of Dundalk Institute of Technology, Michael Mulvey said “DkIT are delighted to collaborate with Dundalk Credit Union to bring this performance of Requiem-Marbhna to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and in doing so support the efforts of organisations working so hard at this time of year”.

Tickets will cost €10 and are available from St. Patrick’s Parish Office, McAteers The Food House & The Marshes Shopping Centre. Concession tickets are available from Dundalk Credit Union at a cost of €5 for members. A very special and memorable evening is guaranteed.
