Dundalk escapes the worst of Storm Callum

Dundalk escapes the worst of Storm Callum

This area seemed to escape the worst of Storm Callum as it raged over the country overnight.

While 30,000 are without power nationwide, ESB Networks have reported no power outages in Co Louth.

While some debris is expected on roads, it is nothing like the scale reported during Storm Ali last month. The only road reported to be blocked is the road to Inniskeen, off the Dundalk to Carrickmacross Road but work was underway to clear this early this morning.

While the worst of the storm has passed, some strong gusts are to be expected this morning but they are likely to ease throughout the day.

No local schools other than St Brigid’s in Ard Easmuinn are reported to be closed but caution is still advised at all times.

Rail services to Dundalk and Belfast from Dublin are currently suspended due to a tree blocking the line at Donabate but services from Dundalk to Dublin are unaffected. This is expected to reopen shortly.
