Dundalk FC back on top after victory over Bohs
Dundalk went top of the table for the first time this season courtesy of a 2-0 win away to Bohemian FC at Oriel Park last night.
The result sees Vinny Perth’s side move ahead of early season pacesetters Shamrock Rovers on goal difference with Bohs now four points behind in third.
The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Michael Duffy’s cross picked out Georgie Kelly, who turned well to fire past James Talbot.
Keith Long’s side could well have levelled before the break but for a magnificent save from Gary Rogers to deny Daniel Mandroiu.
Dundalk continued to dominate in the second half with Chris Shields passing up a chance to kill the game when he missed a penalty that was saved by Talbot on 76 minutes.
The visitors made sure of the win just three minutes later when Sean Hoare rose above Talbot to head Michael Duffy’s free kick to the net.
Dundalk are next in action on Friday night when they travel to Turner’s Cross to face Cork City.
