Dundalk FC legend Dainty passes away in the UK
The death has occurred of Dundalk FC legend Jimmy Dainty in Birmingham.
News of the passing of the right winger broke this morning.
Dainty played with Dundalk from 1973 to 1980, winning eight major honours including two league wins in 1975/76 and 1978/79 and FAI Cups in 1976-77 and 1978-79.
The right winger was signed by then player manager John Smith from Walsall in 1973 but made his name under Jim McLaughlin, being named the club’s Player of the Year in 1975-76 and 1976-77.
Dainty would play 220 matches for Dundalk in total, scoring 41 goals.
He would also feature briefly in the League of Ireland for Sligo Rovers and Waterford.
