Dundalk FC nominated for Team of the Year at RTÉ Sports Awards
Dundalk FC were last night revealed as one of the 11 teams in contention for the coverted 2018 Team of the Year prize at the RTÉ Sports Awards.
Nominees for Saturday night’s awards ceremony were revealed on GameOn on 2FM last night with Dundalk amongst those in contention.
Explaining the nomination, RTÉ said: “Dundalk were the dominant force in soccer this year, winning the League of Ireland for the fourth time in five years and completing the double with victory over rivals Cork City in the FAI Cup final.”
Also nominated are the Cork camogie team, the Irish eventing team, the Dublin football team, the Limerick hurling team, the Dublin ladies football team the Irish Paralympic Athletics team, rowers Paul and Gary O’Donovan, the Irish rugby team, the Leinster rugby team and the Ireland women’s hockey team.
Dundalk previously won the award in 2015 after their last league and FAI Cup double.
Former Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny, who left last month to take up the Republic of Ireland U21 job, is also nominated for Manager of the Year.
