Dundalk house prices jump by a further 7.7%
The average price of a house in Dundalk grew by a massive 7.7% in June.
The latest Residential Property Price Index from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows that the average house price in the town for the year to June now stands at €178,643.
This is an increase of €12,773 on the average price of €165,870 recorded for a home in the town in the year to May.
The CSO report that there were 38 sales in the town in June, 32 of which were existing properties and six of which were new homes.
Of these sales 27% were to first-time buyers, 49% were to trader uppers or downers while 24% were to those who do not plan to occupy the property, i.e. investors.
In Co Louth as a whole the average price was up 4.8% in the year to June to an average of €179,615
Meanwhile, the average house price in Drogheda also took a significant increase. It was up 4.4% in the year to June to €203,224.
The median price in Dundalk also jumped by almost €20,000 in June, up to €162,653 from €143,000 in May while in Drogheda it was up to €193,000 €178,500. The median price for Co Louth was also up €10,000 to €165,000.
