Dundalk Special Olympics Club enjoy fun day out at pitch and putt
Dundalk Special Olympics Club recently enjoyed a fun day out at Cloghogue Pitch and Putt.
Having been invited by Conor, they set off for Newry where Paul and Conor welcomed them with some tea and biscuits.
Before hitting the course, all received a demonstration of the skills, safety and etiquette of Pitch and Putt by Conor and his colleagues. Soon after, the athletes had the opportunity to test their skills on the amazing course with breathtaking views over the valley.
There was great craic between players – both hits and misses provided countless laughs and banter.
To end a wonderful day out, the athletes were treated with a delicious lunch at The Lisdoo restaurant on the Old Newry Road in Dundalk.
“What a beautiful sight,” Trish Farrell said while looking over the tables off athletes, family members and volunteers all enjoying a delightful meal and each other’s company.
Dundalk Special Olympics club will close for the summer on June 29th and be back at Blackrock Community Centre on September 7th.
Ailish McArdle, chairperson, wants to thank the Dundalk and Blackrock communities for their continued support throughout the year and a special thanks to Cloghogue Pitch and Putt for a lovely day out.
Anybody interested in joining the club, either as an athlete or volunteer, is welcome to contact Ailish at 087 677 9089.
