Dundalk Swim Club strikes gold, silver and bronze in National Aquatic Centre
Dundalk Swim Club continued their strong start to the 2019 Long Course season at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin last weekend winning Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Jake Logan won Gold in his Under 12s 100m Breaststroke, Evelyn Donnelly took Silver in the U16s 50m Backstroke while Eliza Logan completed the set landing a Bronze in the Under 14 100m Backstroke.
The club also had a number of swimmers post qualification times for the Division 1 and Division 2 National Finals later in the year including Dylan Gilmore, Alex Lapko, Sean O’Rourke, Jake Logan, Eliza Logan, Rebekah Friel, Sadhbh Mullen, Skye Kasozi, Aoibheann Conway and Evelyn Donnelly. Evelyn will also compete in the Irish Long Course Open next month.
Meanwhile clubman Conor Goss, representing St Fursey’s National School, also put in a hugely impressive display in the Irish Minor Schools on February 10th. Conor posted a Personal Best time in the Heats to be seeded 7th in the U10 50m Backstroke National Final and went on to post another PB in the final.
The Club has high hopes to build on the number of Dundalk swimmers competing at the Division 1 and Divisional 2 National Finals this year but they are also on the look out for the next generation of young Dundalk swimmers to join its various squads catering for all levels and abilities.
The Club are particularly interested in hearing from parents of swimmers in the 7-12 age group who can comfortably swim 25 meters (one length of Dundalk’s pool) Front, Back and Breast stroke and those aged over 12 who may have some club swimming experience.
