Farmer Darkness release debut CD

Local best friend-performance art duo Farmer Darkness’ debut release, titled ‘CD’ is out now in Classified Records for €5.

Members Méabh Breathnach and Emer McGinnity have been making video and performance art together for two years. Supporting local punk performers The Periods and Alice Robinson has allowed them to develop their unique brand of Sad Girl absurdity-pop.

Key influences include The Twisted Sisters, Chastity Belt, ABBA and Jinx Lennon. Their multi-media practice is informed by their professional backgrounds in Sculpture & Environmental Art and Speech & Language Therapy as well as their playful engagement with contemporary culture.

Exploring themes such as neo-capitalism, identity politics and the narcissism of modern relationships, Farmer Darkness combines a DIY-punk ethos with a sharp sense of humour to distinguish them as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in The Town.
