Garvey issues warning after needle is found by his daughter in St Nicholas Avenue
A local election candidate has called on parents to remind their children never to touch needles or other strange objects found on the street.
Eugene Garvey, who is running for Sinn Féin in next month’s local elections, made his appeal via social media yesterday after his 8-year-old daughter and her friend found a need in a drain outside their home in St Nicholas Avenue yesterday.
Mr Garvey said: “It sickens me that someone left it in easy reach of their little hands. Thankfully she was wise enough to let me know and I have since arranged for its safe disposal.
“Please let your child know that these dangers are out there, to never touch them and to always tell an adult.”
