Glenmuir stage remarkable comeback to beat Fane FC in Dundalk and District League

Glenmuir FC made a remarkable comeback as they came out on top in a seven goal thriller as they ran out 4-3 winners over Fane FC in the Dundalk and District League last night.

The opening 45 minutes were quiet with the sides going off level at 1-1 after Sean Kelleher’s 12th minute goal for Fane was cancelled out by a brilliant free kick from Peter McStravick.

The game then burst into life in the second half.

A brace of goals from Nathan Flynn between the 60th and 70th minutes put Fane 3-1 ahead as they looked to cement second place behind leaders Redeemer.

A stunning turnaround from Glenmuir was sparked by a Liam McStravick strike in the 70th minute. Paddy Nicholson then scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-3 with 13 minutes to go.

Then in the 90th minute Peter McStavick struck again to claim all three points for the Hoey’s Lane side.

This was Glenmuir’s third win on the trot while Fane were suffering a third defeat in a row.
