GRA pay tribute to Garda Tony Golden on third anniversary of his murder

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) have paid tribute to their fallen colleague Garda Tony Golden on the third anniversary of his passing today.

The father of three, originally from Ballina in Co Mayo but who lived in Blackrock, Co Louth, was fatally shot in a murder-suicide incident in Omeath on October 11th 2015.

The then 36-year-old was escorting Siobhan Phillips to the home she shared with her partner Adrian Crevan Mackin in the Mullach Álainn estate when he opened fire on them, killing Garda Golden and leaving Ms Phillips seriously injured – injuries she continues to recover from.

Crevan Mackin, a known dissident republican, subsequently turned the gun on himself in an incident that shocked the nation.

Garda Golden was given a state funeral on October 15th 2015 which took place in St Oliver Plunkett’s Church in Blackrock.

Paying tribute to Garda Golden today, the GRA tweeted: “TONY GOLDEN RIP: Three years ago today our friend and colleague had his life brutally taken. Gda Tony Golden will never be forgotten by his family, friends and all those who worked with him in the Force. It was an honour for his colleagues to have served with him. Repose en paix.”
