Kenny nominated for Manager of the Year award
Former Dundalk FC manager Stephen Kenny has been nominated for the Manager of the Year award at next weekend’s RTÉ Sport Awards.
Kenny, who led the Lilywhites to a league and FAI Cup double this season before departing last month for the Republic of Ireland U21 job, is nominated alongside the likes of Leo Cullen, Jim Gavin, Joe Schmidt and Gordon Elliott for the coveted prize.
Explaining his nomination, RTÉ said: “The Dundalk manager regained the League of Ireland title in style, with his team setting a new record of points and goals along the way. They finished the year as double winners with victory in the FAI Cup Final before he was appointed Republic of Ireland Under-21 manager and senior boss-in-waiting.”

Dundalk FC’s Pat Hoban was also recently named on the long list for Sportsperson of the Year.
