Mac Artain Motorsport takes third on tarmac debut
The Mac Artain Motorsport team comprising of Ruairi Mac Artain (driver) David Crilly (navigator) and Christopher Duffy (mechanic) headed to Waterford at the end of June for the Raven’s Rock Rally, which was round five of the mixed surface Motorsport Ireland junior rally series.
The event seen the team switch from their usual surface of gravel in forest rallying to smooth and bumpy tarmac for the first time.
The event, based in Waterford city with service in Dungarvan, saw the crew tackle six stages comprising 80kms of competitive stages and over 210kms of navigational road section with a morning and mid day service. Made up of a mix of both smooth flat out roads and narrow twisty technical sections the rally proved tricky with many retirements.
The crew held on throughout the day and had a clean rally to end up taking third place in the Junior class on their first ever tarmac event.
They would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support as they head towards the next round in Cork at the end of July where they switch back to gravel for a two day event in the woods.
