Midnight deadline for candidates to remove election posters
Local General Election candidates have until midnight tonight to remove the last of their campaign posters.
Any candidates whose posters are still on display by tomorrow will face a fine of €150 per poster.
Under Irish litter law, campaign posters – including their plastic cable ties – must be removed within seven days of polling day. Earlier this week Louth Tidy Towns’ Together also appealed to candidates to do their best to remove all cable ties as well, pointing out these were frequently left behind.
If you spot any posters still up be sure to let the candidates know.
