Musical Society encourage early purchase of tickets to avoid new booking fee at An Táin Arts Centre
Dundalk Musical Society have encouraged those planning to attend their production of ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ this October to buy their tickets in advance.
The group will be performing the Ian Fleming production at An Táin Arts Centre from October 8th to 13th at 8pm nightly with a matinée on Saturday October 12th at 2.30pm.
Tickets, priced €16 or €15 for the matinee, are on sale now from the An Táin Theatre box office at 042 9332332 or www.antain.ie
However, due to a new booking fee of €1.50 coming into effect from September 1st the Musical Society have taken to Facebook to encourage people to save money by buying their tickets early.
They said: “From the 1st of September 2019, An Táin Arts Centre will be adding a charge of €1.50 to the cost of each ticket. This booking fee will be added on to each individual ticket for every show from the 1st of September onwards.
“We have always strived to keep our ticket prices at an affordable rate so that theatre is accessible to all of our community and not just the wealthy and elite. Despite huge overheads ourselves, we have always endeavoured to bring you a top quality show at an affordable rate.
“We have made representations to the board and have met with the Managing Director, and unfortunately they are not in a position to reverse this charge despite our pleas. The theatre is underfunded and losing money we have been told, and while we are very unhappy with this additional charge being passed on to patrons we have no other choice but to accept it.
“However, as this charge is not being implemented until 1st of September those who purchase their tickets before then will not have to pay the booking fee. Spread the work and get booking. Tickets have already started ‘flying’ out the door.”
