O’Connor pens new one year deal at Linfield
Dundalk man Michael O’Connor has signed a new contract with Linfield FC which will see him remain at the club for a further year.
The former Dundalk FC and Shamrock Rovers player joined the Belfast side in July on a one year deal. His new contract will see him remain with the Windsor Park club until the summer of 2020.
The 20-year-old has scored four goals in 10 appearances for Linfield since ending his loan spell at Finn Harps last summer, including a first half winner in last Monday’s Belfast derby at The Oval.
Manager David Healy said he was pleased to have the striker tied down.
He said: “I’m delighted that we’ve reached agreement with young Michael O’Connor for him to sign a one year extension to his existing contract.
“He’s loved every minute of being at Linfield and he’s proving to be a very good player.
“He’s young and enthusiastic and he’s still got a lot of improvement in him but he’s got enormous potential.
“He’s strong and with an eye for goal and I know this news will go down very well with our supporters who’ve taken to him already and who’ve been hugely impressed with his attitude and performances to date.
“I’m delighted that he’s shown his commitment to this club by readily extending his contract for at least another year,” said Healy.
