Pop up shop in aid of Mellon Educate charity opens in the Long Walk next week
A pop up shop will open in the Long Walk Shopping Centre next week to raise funds for Mellon Educate.
The store will be run by Karen McArdle of Chaplin’s Hair Salon in the Clanbrassil Centre. She has been volunteering with the Mellon Educate charity, which builds homes and schools for communities in South Africa, for over 17 years.
Inspired by the work of the charity set up by Irish businessman Niall Mellon, Karen’s partner Martin McLoughlin joined her a number of years ago, and will once again take part in the annual building week later this year
The pop up shop will open on Tuesday June 11th and remain open until close of business on Saturday June 15th.
The always popular event will feature everything from pre loved clothes, shoes, handbags, jewellery, delph, furniture, ornaments and much more.
Monies raised will help Karen and Martin travel to South Africa in November along with 300 other volunteers to help out in the township of Mfueleni where they will be helping out with the upgrade and extension of two local schools.
