San Benedetto refused permission to retain hot food take away on the Point Road

San Benedetto at 64 Point Road, Dundalk, have been refused permission to convert part of the shop to a hot food take away.

The store, a sister business of the San Benedetto Italian shop on Francis Street, opened to the public in March in the old Spanish Tapas shop at the former XL store.

It has been selling a range of take away foods since then but the future of this side of the business is now in doubt.

Operator Daniele Amato applied to the local authority in June for retention permission for signage at the shop as well as retention permission to change part of the premises from a shop to a hot food take away.

This has now been refused by Louth County Council. It now remains to be seen whether or not the matter will be appealed.
