Sharkey to become new principal of Coláiste Chú Chulainn
Local councillor Tomás Sharkey is set to take over as the new principal of Coláiste Chú Chulainn in Dundalk.
The Sinn Féin representative has been principal at Inver College in Carrickmacross for the last two years but according to a report in The Northern Standard newspaper he has now tendered his resignation to Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board to take up his new position at the new second level school at the Marshes.
Explaining his decision to take up the new role, Cllr Sharkey said: “The principal in Dundalk resigned unexpectedly. I intended spending the next 20 years in Inver but I saw an interesting opportunity and was fortunate enough to be selected.”
Sharkey, who was previously worked in both Dundalk Grammar School and Bush Post Primary, has not been given a start date for his new role as yet.
He will be replacing Deirdre Uí Liatháin in the role.
