Sinn Féin had lots of information on Tom Oliver murder, claims Ed Moloney
A leading journalist well known for reporting on the IRA and the Troubles has claimed that Louth TD Gerry Adams knows plenty about the murder of Cooley farmer Tom Oliver more than 26 years ago.
A Garda investigation into the July 1991 murder of the Riverstown man was recently revisited with Sinn Féin president Adams called on by fellow local TDs Peter Fitzpatrick and Declan Breathnach to make any information he has on the killing available to the authorities.
While Adams denied having any knowledge of those responsible for the murder, Ed Moloney – author of three books including A Secret History of the IRA and Voices from the Grave: Two Men’s War in Ireland – has disputed this.
Writing on his website thebrokenelbow.com, Moloney says that Adams’ claim that “Sinn Féin has no information about the murder” is “just not true”.
He said: “The reality is that Sinn Fein has lots of information about the murder of Tom Oliver.”
