Six Men’s Sheds groups in Louth to receive €1,691 in funding each
Six Men’s Sheds groups in Co Louth are set to receive €1,691 each in funding under the Men’s Sheds stream of the Community Enhancement Programme.
News of the funding, totalling €10,146, was announced this morning.
Amongst the groups to benefit include the Cooley Peninsula Men’s Shed group who will spend their quote on new and upgrading of machinery and tools for members and the replacement of a door for security.
Dundalk Men’s Sheds will spend theirs on four laptops for training for current and new members.
Other local groups to benefit include Drogheda, Dunleer, Mid-Louth and Tullyallen Men’s Shed Groups.
News of the funding was welcomed by local Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd, who said: “This funding aims to enable individual Sheds to update their facilities by purchasing equipment or by carrying out minor works to improve their shed. The initiative was developed in association with the Irish Men’s Sheds Association.”
He added: “The local men’s sheds offer a safe and inclusive environment where men can share their life skills, engage socially and work on some very important local projects. The men’s sheds movement are also providing a wonderful health and wellbeing capacity that is acknowledged and appreciated by all.”
