Sold signs go up at former Authentic Foods Company facility
The former Authentic Foods Company facility at the Finnabair Industrial Estate in Dundalk has sold for an undisclosed sum.
The 172,526sq ft building, which is set on 13.32 acres, was announced in February by Dublin-based agents JLL.
Earlier today the ‘For Sale’ signs which were erected earlier this year were changed to ‘Sold’, as our picture shows above.
After months of speculation regarding the company’s future, The Authentic Food Company closed its doors almost exactly a year ago on October 19th 2018, citing financial difficulties with 169 staff losing their jobs.
The property comprises of a purpose built food production facility, laid out as production halls, chilled and frozen storage areas, office accommodation, staff canteen and ancillary plant rooms.
It is not known at this stage who the new buyer is or what their intentions for the factory are but it will be hoped it leads to an employment boost for the town down the line.
The factory off the Inner Relief Road was opened in 1993 and was one of the biggest employers in the town with 155 employed there when The Authentic Food Company took over the running of the plant from Heinz in February 2015.
