St Gerard’s Novena gets underway in Dundalk this Sunday

The annual Dundalk Solemn Novena to St Gerard Majella gets underway in St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church this Sunday October 8th and will run until Monday October 16th.

There are Masses each weekday at 7am, 9.30am, 11.30am, 1.10pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm, 6pm, 7.30pm, 9pm and 10.30pm.

On Sundays Masses take place at 7am, 8am, 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 4.30pm, 6pm, 7.30pm and 9pm.

The last session of each night will be by candlelight while Reconciliation Services will take place on Friday October 13th at 9.30am, 11.30am, 6pm and 7.30pm. There will be no Mass at these times.

This year’s guest speaker is Lisa Marmion from Women’s Aid Dundalk, who will give a talk on Thursday October 12th on ‘When Home Is Where The Hurt Is’.

The annual Healing Mass with Anointing of the Sick and Elderly will take place on Saturday October 14th at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Blessing of Babies and Children will take place on Sunday October 15th at 2.30pm.

Preachers at this year’s Novena are Archbishop Eamon Martin (Armagh), Fr Noel Kehoe (Clonard Monastery, Belfast), Fr Tony Rice (St Joseph’s, Dundalk), Fr Brendan O’Rourke (St Patrick’s Monastery, Esker), Fr Ciaran O’Callaghan (Clonard Monastery, Belfast), Fr Michael Cusack (St Joseph’s, Dundalk) and Fr Brendan Callanan (St Joseph’s, Dundalk).

Attendees are urged to not block entrances or roads while parking at the event.
