Stephen Carroll/Captain Mark Duffy 4 Mile Road Race taking place this Saturday

This year’s Stephen Carroll/Captain Mark Duffy Blackrock AC 4 Mile Road Race will take place on Saturday evening.

The annual event will get underway at 6.30pm on the day and will be run in aid of the RNLI Clogherhead, North Louth Hospice and Blackrock AC.

Last year €10,400 was raised with €3,850 each going to the North Louth Hospice and RNLI Clogherhead and €2,700 going to the local athletic club.

The event remembers local businessman and athletics fan Stephen Carroll who lost his life to cancer in 2013 at the age of 37. Last year the event was extended to remember Captain Mark Duffy, from Blackrock, who passed away following the tragic accident involving Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116 off the Co Mayo coast.

You can still sign up online here. Pre-registration will also take place from 6.30pm to 8pm tonight in Blackrock Community Centre where t-shirts and race numbers can be collected.
