The Century Bar available for lease
The iconic Century Bar and Restaurant in Dundalk has been placed up for lease.
The iconic pub at 19 Roden Place reopened in March 2018 under the ownership of Michael and Bernadette Heaney, who purchased it from Pat Kerley the previous December.
Now the pub has been placed back up for rent for an undisclosed sum through local estate agents Sherry FitzGerald Carroll.
Speaking to Talk of the Town, Brian Carroll of Sherry FitzGerald Carroll said: “The property first came to the attention of the owners over 40 years ago when as a child Mickey Heaney attended the close by Marist School and after successfully purchasing the property in recent times, he was very anxious to commence a meticulous refurbishment programme to ensure the original heritage of the renowned town centre bar was carefully restored ensuring that its legacy and charm continues long into the future for Dundalk people to enjoy.”
Commenting on the property Mickey Heaney notes: “Dublin is full original Irish bars offering charm and character and we feel it is very important that the heritage of The Century Bar is retained as part of the history of Dundalk. Unfortunately there are very few original bars left in Dundalk Town and we are delighted to have been in a position to oversee the refurbishment programme and relaunching of the property over the last two years and we are now looking for the perfect trading partner to lease the premises from us and we hope to find a person who appreciates the property and heritage in the same way as we have done for many years.”
Further details on the listing can be found here.
(A post appeared on Talk of the Town yesterday indicating The Century Bar was for sale. This was on the basis that it appeared as a for sale listing in a property alert. We would like to apologise to the agents and owners for any inconvenience caused).
