The Green Party select their local election candidates in Louth
The Green Party have selected their three candidates to run in next May’s Local Elections in Louth with Dundalk man Eoin Daly given the task of trying to retain the seat which will be vacated by Mark Dearey.
Sitting Councillor Marianne Butler will be looking to retain the seat she has held since 2009 when she was first elected to Dundalk Town Council. She was subsequently co-opted onto Louth County Council the following year when her brother-in-law Mark Dearey was appointed to the Seanad.
Marianne then retained her seat by taking 777 first preference votes in the Dundalk South electoral area in May 2014, eventually being elected on the 10th count with 1,149 votes.
Replacing Cllr Dearey in Dundalk Carlingford following his recent decision to retire from politics is Eoin Daly (pictured above left) from Dundalk.
This will be Eoin’s first time going forward for elections.
The third candidate the party will run in Louth is Tallanstown man Sean Connolly, who will be running in the Ardee Electoral Area for the first time.
