The Square Restaurant opens its doors in Dundalk today

Dundalk’s newest restaurant opens its doors today.

The Square Restaurant is located in the Market Square.

In March Talk of the Town exclusively revealed that the people behind The Courthouse Restaurant in Carrickmacross, Conor Mee and Charlotte Carr, planned to expand into Dundalk town centre. The pair had previously operated in the former Rosso Restaurant on Roden Place, now The Townhouse, before opening in the Monaghan town a decade ago.

They will have award winning chef Conor Halpenny, from Ardee, serving up a variety of tasty treats at The Square Restaurant.

The new dining option will be open for lunch from 11am to 3pm Tuesday to Saturday and for dinner Wednesday to Thursday from 5pm to 9pm and on Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 10pm.

According to the website: “The starting point of each dish on our dinner and lunch menu is what is the best seasonal ingredients right now, locally and Irish. Creating in this way means our menus change and flow through the year to reflect what is best at that time. We pair these dishes with a tightly curated wine and beer menu and most importantly serve it all with warmth and humour (or at least a smile) We look forward to seeing you.”

A sample lunch menu includes main courses such as grilled hake, slow cooked lamb shoulder, spinach ricotta dumplings, 10oz sirloin steak and pork schnitzel.
