Tree planted at Dundalk IT to remember murdered student Cameron Reilly
A tree was planted at Dundalk IT on Wednesday to remember murdered teenager Cameron Reilly.
The 18-year-old was found strangled in a field in his native Dunleer in May.
Cameron was a first year student in Dundalk with the Events, Hospitality and Culinary Arts Department holding a memorial ceremony on Wednesday to remember him.
A statement on their Facebook page read: “Today was a sad day for our department as we remembered our student Cameron Reilly who died tragically on Saturday, 26 May.
“Students, staff and his family gathered today for a memorial ceremony to remember Cameron.
“This was followed by the planting of a tree in his memory and the release of balloons.
“It was a fitting event to remember a lovely young man who left us too soon. Cameron you still live in our hearts and minds.”
Fellow teenager Aaron Connolly of Willistown, Drumcar, Co Louth, has been charged with the murder of Cameron. He is currently on bail pending the preparation of a book of evidence.
