Two local wins at Irish Restaurant Awards
Two local businesses were celebrating after landing provincial honours at the Irish Restaurant Awards in Dublin on Monday night.
Hosted by the Restaurant Association of Ireland, the Best Gastro Pub in Leinster award went to Lennon’s Gastro Pub on the Castletown Road. Unfortunately they were pipped to the All-Ireland title by The Legal Eagle in Dublin.
The second local winner was Strandfield Café at Ballymascanlon, which picked up the Best Café in Leinster prize. Again they just missed out on the All-Ireland title to Connaught champion Pudding Row.
Well done to both local businesses.
They, as well as others from the area, were nominated by more than 90,000 online users. This was then whittled down by the RAI’s National Judging Academy, made up of industry experts, food writers, culinary academics and critics to determine the winners.
Etto in Dublin was named the Best Restaurant in Ireland on the night.
