Well known local publican Tom Clarke passes away
The death has occurred of well-known local publican Tom Clarke.
Tom, who passed away peacefully in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital yesterday, was best known for running Tom Clarke’s Bar in Quay Street.
While Tom had been retired from the business many years, his pub remains one of the most popular in town having been taken over by his son James.
Tom is survived by his wife Alice (née Coyle), children Thomas, Liam, Michael, Robert, James, Alice O’Reilly and Isabel Hoey, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family relatives, neighbours and the wonderful staff and friends in Saint Oliver Plunkett Hospital.
He was predeceased by his daughter Mary.
Tom will be reposing at the residence of his son Michael, Waterview, Lower Point Road from 11am to 9pm today. Removal on Friday morning at 10.30am driving to Tom Clarke’s Bar for 10.40am then proceeding on foot to St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards will be in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
