Work commences on new mixed use development on the Ramparts Road
Work has commenced recently on developing a new mixed use development adjacent to the Marshes Shopping Centre on the Ramparts Road.
Local developers Urban Life, who are best known for building the new Mount Hamilton estate on the Carrick Road, are behind the plans which include 65 new homes.
They have taken over the site from Camus Developments who were granted conditional planning permission in July 2016 for 65 residential dwellings and two three storey buildings, measuring 810sqm and 855sqm respectively.
Each of these buildings will have retail on the ground floor with office space at first and second floor levels.
The proposed dwellings comprise of 28 apartment/duplexes accommodated in two three storey buildings and 37 2/2.5 storey houses in terraced and semi-detached format. The dwellings are a mix of two, three and four bed units.
The proposal also includes the demolition of a dis-used dwelling house and two sheds on the application site, 123 on-site car parking spaces, public lighting landscaping, boundary treatment and all associated site development works. New vehicular access to the proposed development is provided off the Ramparts Road.
