Work on new drive-thru at the Marshes now underway
Work on the new drive-thru facility planned for the Marshes Shopping Centre has got underway recently.
The structure of the unit, which was given the go ahead late last year, has now been erected by contractors CGDM Construction.
Last November KW Investment Funds were granted conditional planning permission by Louth County Council for a single storey café incorporating a drive-thru facility.
The new drive-thru will be located at the Dunnes entrance to the Marshes, beside an An Bóthar Iarainn and the link road to the Avenue Road/Tom Bellew Avenue.
It has not yet been revealed who the occupant will be. Potential operators including KFC, Burger King, Costa Coffee and Starbucks already have units in the centre while McDonald’s have a drive-thru nearby at the Tesco Extra shopping centre.
The proposed café will include an internal seating area, an internal bin storage area, wall mounted signage on the northern, eastern and western elevations with a single free-standing totem sign also proposed along the eastern site boundary.
Vehicular access will be provided via a new access in the north-east corner of the site in the same position as that previously permitted in a previous planning application.
There will be 20 surface car parking spaces, including two lay-by spaces, in the northern and eastern part of the site. The proposed development also provides for all associated site development including boundary treatments, site services, lighting and landscaping works.
